A Full Life
Reflections of a full life.
I used to think that living a full life meant doing all the things.
Travel. Achievement. Big, grand, visible things that would signify you had made the most of your time on this earth.
But the older I get, and the more I experience, the more I wonder if perhaps living a full life is simply to love wholly, and to be loved wholly.
Maybe it is in the little moments.
Birdsong and a warm coffee in the morning.
The sound of a baby’s laughter.
The wag of your dog’s tail when you get home from work.
The quiet “I love you”s in the little moments.
The little sigh your child makes as they wrap their arms around your neck.
To laugh and dance with abandon.
To find flow state in meaningful work.
To lean into community and friendship.
Maybe this is what it is to live a full and cherished life.
It certainly feels like it,
to me.
